The story in short

The story of Mario starts in 1983, when the first non-official game Mario Bros. was released as an arcade game. Since then, many other titles have been introduced into the popular game franchise about everyone's favourite plumber. And there are over 200 games in total to look at.

The main plot of the Mario games has its beginning in Super Mario Bros., which is the next, but technically the first official instalment in the series. Released on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) in 1985, two years after the first, you're given the task of rescuing Princess Toadstool (Peach) who's been kidnapped by Bowser, the king of the koopas.

This is a thing that repeats itself throughout most of the games. And it's one of the things that the Mario games are best known for. Clear the worlds, save the princess. Below you can find almost everything about the Mario-universe— from the characters, the power-ups, and even some of the consoles. So, go bananas!
